The More Than 10 Commandments of Internet Marketing - 20 in Fact

If you put The 10 Commandments of Internet Marketing in your Google® search box, you will find many web pages listed. Craig Lock of New Zealand will be there. I decided that a more comprehensive list of commandments was needed placed in sequence and leaving out things like Don't Ignore Your Family.

Well, we shouldn't ignore our family, but that will not help us to build an Internet business. Keep everyone in the family informed and interested in what you are doing. Remember that their interest may be more important than yours.

The description for each of the commandments are short in this article. However, I have written an ebook in .pdf format with much more complete descriptions. You can't buy this ebook, in fact you can pass a copy to your friends for all I care. Just remember not to change it. Please respect my copyright

Here are the Ten Commandments of Internet Marketing. Well make that 20 Commandments.

1. Thou shalt not have any guru before thee. In fact, if thou seeth a guru, thou shalt run, run, run.

An Internet guru is a guide, counselor, or mentor. The object of most gurus is to sale an ebook or course and collect the names of buyers. He then continues to sell to these buyers year after year. He also has an affiliate program to have others sell his products. He is your competition. Copy the guru, don't let him drain you dry.

2. Thou shalt find a niche market.

A niche is a special area of demand for your product. It is a special area of interest to you. Selling to a niche market is much more effective than selling to a general market. If you can find what you are selling in a grocery store, hardware store, or Wal-mart®, you are probably not in a niche market.

3. Thou shalt be an expert in that niche market.

Well, you should know what you are talking about. Right?

4. Thou shalt write an ebook to prove that thou are an expert and guru in said market.

An ebook is a good way to start in your new Internet business. It can be free or you can sell it. It must be informative to the reader. It should show that you are an expert in the area. Yes, you don't need an ebook if you are selling products like swimming supplies.

5. Thou shalt write a sales letter to sell thine ebook to thine niche market. In said ebook thou shalt deny that thou art a guru.

If you have a product site, you don't need a sales letter. The site visitor shops and adds items to the shopping cart.

If you have a course , software, or ebook to sell, you will have to have a sales letter like the gurus have on their sites. Most gurus say they are not gurus, but just a guy like you who was terribly in debt until he met Herman the Hermit in the Nevada desert who told him the secret of Internet marketing.

Don't use fake testimonials like some gurus do. They are obviously false and destroy credibility.

6. Thou shalt convert thine ebook and sales letter to HTML.

Web browsers speak HTML. It's as if they are Chinese. You need to know the rudiments of that language if you want to be clever like me.

7. Thou shalt obtain an autoresponder and code for name and email address collection. Place said code in thine sales letter HTML.

Yes, you need to collect as many names of site visitors as possible. You need to give them an automated response. You need to be able to mail to your list having the autoresponder personalize your messages.

8. Thou shalt obtain a payment source and ebook delivery system and add HTML to thine sales letter.

PayPal® is a simple way to collect payments for items and direct your buyer to where he can download your ebook or course or software.

If it is product in some other form, PayPal® will tell you where to ship it.

ClickBank® will help you sell your products and collect the money for you.

9. Thou shalt pick a domain name that has keywords for your niche market.

It could just be your company name. Keywords in the domain name can help the search engines find you. Hyphens are good. Stick to .org, .com., .gov, .edu. Okay, stick to .com and .org.

10. Thou shalt find a host for thine domain.

That are many host and some offer software and transponders and such. Find one with good technical service.

11. Thou shalt upload thine sales letter.

You need to FTP (upload) your HTML code to your site. There are many free software programs to do this. Your host may offer this software. They will at least tell you how to get it. Your main file must be called index.html on most servers. There may be a special file at the server where you must place your files such as htmldocs.

What do you call the first page of your site? (index.html)

12. Thou shalt drive traffic to thine domain name.

No traffic, no sales, no interest.

13. Thou shalt not buy traffic from scam artist.

Don't pay for hits. Yes, you will get hits, meaningless hits from surfers, etc.

Your hit counter might spin.

You will probably get zero or no sales. Maybe not that many.

14. Thou shalt join thine niche communities and build relationships, pass out good information, and be helpful to others.

Yes, join groups like Yahoo Groups® and make acquaintances that may become customers.

15. Thou shall share free information and services.

Free stuff can bring you traffic and sales. A free ebook can be good.

16. Thou shalt be patient knowing it takes time to build an Internet business.

Maybe it will take a year or two. Just stay focused.

17. Thou shalt work everyday on promoting thine Internet Business.

If you owned a street business you would need to go to work most everyday, right?

18. Thou shalt plan thy day to accomplish goals to promote and improve your Internet business.

Don't drift. Leave that up to me, Taylor Jones the Hack Writer. Plan your activities.

19. Thou shalt improve thine technical skills to stay abreast of Internet businesses.

The Internet by nature is technical. Learn the skills you need one by one. There is no need to hurry. The technology always changes.

20. Thou shalt define a code for thine own self-conduct that will not allow thee to scam, deceive, mislead, steal, defraud, condemn competition, or be a nuisance to others.

If you want to succeed, you must be trusted. You want to have a clear conscience too. So be honest and happy.

The above descriptions of the 20 Commandments are very brief. I have written a .pdf book with much more information. I have set the price of this ebook at ZERO. Yes, it is FREE. Nothing is cheaper than FREE. Just go to my website http//www.tjbooks.com/20C.pdf

Good fortune with your website.

You really don't have to sell anything to earn money.

Did you know that?

If you have a good content site, the search engines will like you and you can place Google AdSense® ads on your site and get paid whenever someone clicks on the ad. You can sell advertising spots on your site too.

Isn't life grand?

The End
