Affiliate Marketing - Finding a Niche Or Topic

If you are considering starting in affiliate marketing, finding a niche or topic should be one of your first concerns. If you already have a passion for something or an interest in a particular subject, you might try to see if there is any niche where your expertise will assist you. If you don't then you will have to search out a niche which you think may give you the best returns.

Your first task then is to find a profitable niche or topic. Remember that not all niches will be profitable and will not make you any money. This could be that there is no great demand for that particular product or the apparent cost is too high. You will have to research this before you spend time, effort or money on it. You really cannot do enough research on your chosen subject. It will pay off in the future.

Different niches respond differently to any offers they might receive. Some may buy products, some will merely click on the ads and some will sign up to lists. You will need to understand the niche to sell effectively to it.

You should first look for a niche where products are selling well or one that has lots of Click Per Action offers or AdSense sites. You can find out the best sellers by looking at the Gravity of the product in ClickBank. This figure is quite reliable as against the vendor's claims which may be a little biased. ClickBank is completely independent and their figures will probably be the most accurate as to what is selling well and what isn't.

You will no doubt find that most niches cover a vast range within their description and although you will find lots of products which cover the main category, there will be vast competition on the internet with well established marketers. You will really need to specialise is what is referred to as a sub-niche.

Whereas a niche category will cover such generalised subjects such as weight loss, credit card debt, foreclosure and even dog training. They are massive markets and as such there is massive competition. Far better that you start in a sub-niche which will be far more targeted and perhaps more willing to buy from you. A sub niche will break down a niche into specialised category i.e. weight loss for a particular age group, over fifties, new mothers, even for men.

When marketing to sub-niches you will probably find that people will be more interested in your sub-niche as it will be more focussed on the customers requirements. Finally remember that there are thousands of niches out there. There's probably some that haven't even been thought of yet.
