Affiliate Marketing Strategy - Make Extra Cash

How to get started with affiliate marketing

There are a few different places to start when becoming an affiliate. I personally prefer ClickBank because they have been around so long. Some other great companies are commission junction and Google Adsense even offers an affiliate program. The good news is all of these are free. However, this doesn't mean you're going to see money over night with no investment. Time is money and that is exactly how you will become successful at this...putting in the time. That time will transfer in to money. Now once you are a member at ClickBank than you'll want to click on the link at the top of the home page that is titled "Marketplace". This is basically where you can find other people's products to sell and earn commission from. ClickBank has thousands of products, but make sure you go with one that resonates with you!

I have an affiliate link. What on earth do I do with it?

Ok, so you took the step and signed up for an affiliate program. Good. Now you are presented with this link (kind of like your magic dust). This is the link people will click to get to the product you chose and when someone buys that product than you will get a high percentage of the sale. You can post this link on your blog, website, or sometimes even social network. The way to see results is to MARKET the product you chose. In other words, that link could stay on your blog a decade untouched unless you market it.

How to market and sell products

This is where you may get a headache because there are a lot of different ways you can go with this, and you must get your creative knowledge cap on! This should be no different than owning your own company and coming up with a sales and marketing strategy. OK... First make a website or blog focusing only on the product you chose. More importantly, focus on your products NICHE keyword. So if your product Is called BubbleScrub Sensitive Dog Shampoo, than your blog domain name and title should focus on "Sensitive Dog Shampoo" not the brand name BubbleScrub. The reason is that it is highly unlikely anyone will search for the product directly. They will almost always search for a specific set of keywords. After you have your blog set up and have made a few good posts than you are faced with a choice: SEO or PPC. In English that means Search Engine Optimization OR Pay Per Click ads. There is no right way; you can become highly successful in either route. The main difference is Pay Per Click is going to cost you a bit of money up front.

Training courses?

I wouldn't recommend spending too much money on affiliate marketing or seo courses. I'm not saying the knowledge isn't valuable but let's face it the information is free with a simple Google search. There are plenty of free affiliate marketing resources! When I started learning all this a few months ago I bought The ClickBank Code by Mike Jones. It's a pretty good product. It took me a bit to watch the 28 training videos but it was very valuable. Do a Google search on how to make money with ClickBank for more info on that.

Can I really make a living off this?

What I've learned about anything in life is that as long as you put your heart into it than you can be successful in anything. Mind you this will not happen overnight. It may even take you 6 months to see your first affiliate dollar, but if you stick it through the rough times you're going to learn and know how to succeed.
